Dr Matthew Yalizis is an orthopaedic surgeon at BOSIC who has special interest and subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery. He received his medical degree from Sydney University and then completed his orthopaedic surgical training under the auspices of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He then furthered his training and completed both local and international fellowships with a focus on ailments of the shoulder and elbow. He initially trained in Sydney at St Vincent’s Hospital with A/Prof Simon Tan and then moved to Melbourne to train with A/Prof Greg Hoy treating many of Melbourne's elite athletes. He then continued training internationally in the USA and finished in the renowned Centre Orthopédique Santy in France, Dr. Yalizis learned under Dr. Gilles Walch, considered by many to be one of the best and most influential shoulder surgeons in the world.
Active in research and education, Dr Yalizis has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and given international podium presentations at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. A native of Sydney with a Greek background who is fluent in written and spoken Greek. He lives in Sydney with his wife and children. In his spare time he enjoys all activities outdoors and spending time with his family.
He is available to treat all ailments of the shoulder and elbow and operates at St George and St Vincent's Private Hospital and consults at Barangaroo Orthopaedic & Sports Injury Clinic on Wednesday.
